Palm inc calling HTC for help

Lots of companies these days are turning to HTC when it comes to production of mobile phones, especially smartphones. Palm inc is one of them, the company has been before with HTC, but later backed up when HTC  start marketing its own trade mark on the mobile market. I-mate turn its direction back to HTC and all its plans during the 2008 are related to HTC production lines.

If a company does not feel strength in the developing of its devices, it signs with HTC. Tell me what happen when a company does not meet the software developing growth of the other competitors, where this company is turning its head?

I hope Palm inc is having a hidden "ace" otherwise its going down the road of history.

Palm OS II or Windows Mobile, what's gonna be ?

Palm inc is closing down the retail line of its stores, even the one in Rockefeller Center, New York city. Whit plans not starting in 2008, but way .. in 2009 Palm inc. is taking a long way in a direction away from its branded Palm OS. I as a marketing wanna be can not understand how a company expect to create a respectable
product based on other company's trade mark. I am talking about using windows mobile OS when your company plans are - to create a new OS.

This means the company can assemble hardware easily, but can not produce software development. I guess today is the developer day!
Palm inc. is not Apple in the marketing sphere, that is what bothers men form a Palm OS web publisher prospective. I may not have anything for publishing with one year, palm will be forgotten unless it turns to be the century of the open source.

Palm Treo 750 has been released with Windows Mobile 6

The latest palm product - treo 750, has been released running on the latest version of the windows mobile 6 os along with support for HSDPA networks.

If you are asking me, it was about time for this release. All the latest smartphones (I mean the successful once) are running on the Microsoft's mobile flagman - windows mobile 6 and pro versions.

Palm OS II - myth or 2009 reality

Many Palm Os lovers (not so many these days) have been dreaming of a new mobile OS which can be compared to windows mobile, symbian even mac OS x mobile. Palm has been promising the dreamed land for almost half a decade now, lately rumors were saying that it will be a Linux based platform.

palm os 2

The Guardian has just released an interview with Palm CEO - it is claimed that year and a half will be needed for the new platform to see  test fields on a real hardware made by palm. I guess it is just another delay as Palm is not having the dev powered to even start a lab research what the capabilities of the new mobile OS are ... we are not talking about a real test, but a start of such procedure.

I might believe Google will release its new G-smartphone faster than Palm OS 2 will be. I bet a hundred Google will role it out first.

The new Palm Treo 500 runs on Windows Mobile 6 - Vodafone has just announced its presents in the smartphone offer list

Vodafone has it - the new palm Treo 500v (v for Vodafone). The smartphone is Windows Mobile 6 based and does not have anything new build in. Check out the images of the new Palm Treo 500v (black and white edition) :

 New Palm treo 500v Vodaone

Here is the black edition of the new Palm Treo 500v :

new Palm Treo 500v blck edition

You will find the usual 2.00 mpx camera - i bet they have pre-ordered older parts like the cammera and want to clean the "basement", older GSM network based device are having better cameras than this one.

The smart phone is so lame to be with this keyboard - come people, you have not ordered the touch screens or they are kind a expensive. I have no idea where Palm is having their user recomendations - most probably the marketing team at Palm has been on vacation for the last 6 mounths.

The only good news is the UMTS / 3G network support along with the 150 MBs of RAM usable from its 256 MBs available.

Bluetoght 2.0 and micro-SD is a standard procedure lately, looking from a distant point the new Palm Treo 500v is not new at all. If you take all the parts from your old smartphone device, put it in a box and linked them you will have the same device as Palm Treo 500 - the latest "flagman" from Vodafone.

Personally I do not like it, it looks like a brick to me - i did not saw a second camera made for the 3G options and video calling. I do not even want to spend money on it to test it - even with the 30 days money back guarantee.

Palm should try harder in order to place its new Treo 500v in my pocket.

Google Maps gets updated for Palm Treo

Google has launched new update of the mobile maps software for the fans of Palm Treo - take a look at the new updated google mobile maps for Treo here.

google mobile mpas update treo

The effect will be shorter time period to start the applications along with some fashion integrations all over the maps, do not forget the real time traffic statistics and the details directions which the update provides.

Not much other to say - just go and test it. I do love all Google products as they are getting more and more specified for each device. Palm should take the example of Google and listen to their customers once a while. If they do - Palm will not be releasing such new devices as the new Palm treo 500 for Vodafone

Telus goes with the latest Garnet based Palm Treo 755p

new palm telus treo 755pThe Canadian Telus carrier is launching the latest Palm device, its a pity that is a Garnet powered Palm - all Palm lovers are hoping they will see a Linux based operating system on a Palm hardware very soon. I guess it will not happen this year, as Palm has announced that Linux based OS is delayed for the late 2008 probably.
This is not a good news for the Palm fans, but hey what we can do - start our own company :(

The not so new Palm Centro

new palm os centroThe French PDA news web site - Pdafrance.com has released a couple of images of the new Palm Centro, to tell you the true it does not look new - I mean the software which is running on the new Palm OS based smartphone. As we can see on the picture the operating system has not been updated - even the icons of the user interface has not been changed.

I am not aware what the developers at Palm have been doing lately (not working i guess) , but this phone looks pretty useless if its running on an old Palm OS.

I hope it is a fake image or Palm are just not reveling the OS ... because if this smartphone goes live looking like this I will not be buying it.
The rumors are saying that Palm has postponed the adoption of Linux on its hardware for the late 2008 - come on people you must be joking right ?

On other thing - Palm plans to start distributing Centro in Europe first, starting September 12. I am not sure what is going on with this company, many Palm users are having their dreams for something new blown away.

Treo 750 Windows mobile 6 - Palm

treo 750 windows mobile 6There is always a good news bad news thing. This is no different. I shall start with the good one but don't get too excited now. So the good news is that the Official Windows Mobile 6 Professional Update for the Treo 750 handset is about to be released. Wohoo! And now for the bad part. Well you are not going to be able to enjoy this joy of joys if you are not located in.... well in Australia. It was pretty obvious that the WM6 was coming out for the 750, I mean all the "beta" and "secret" screen shots released on the net, and believe you me the were quite the number, we were all expecting this to happen. But Australia. Come on
now, who would have thought that ?! Regardless it is a fact. Australians will enjoy the benefits of the product first. Furthermore the customers of the Australian branch of Hutchison 3 will  get this piece of art for free from the middle of the month and the "other customers" will have to wait until sometime in September. If  "the other " part is referring to AT&T
customers as well is not known at this point, but you will be the first to know here at "........." as usual.
